I think everything has been patented before,
From the way you dress to the way you snore.

If I eat pick an apple from the orchard and furtively leave,
Will I have to pay royalties to Adam and Eve?
They were the ones who came up with the concept,
And I am no more than a lousy me-too, a poor adept.

It all boils down to money,
What else did you think honey?
Can you now imagine Disney,
Losing their hegemony over Mickey?

Can you calculate how much it will cost?
Can you imagine the amount of money lost?
Blessed be those duplicators in Thailand,
Praised is the man behind the counterfeit stand.

With imitations more real that the real,
With fakes offering the best deal,
What is wrong with a small accessible dream?
With vulgarizing with giving hope, or at least a beam?

Haute couture is so macabre as if designed by coroners,
With bourgeois ladies acting so condescending,
When to street level they dare descending,
Giving aristocrats the illusion that they are commoners.

A Chinese woman wants to dress in a Chanel or a Dior,
Will she have to save up all her life and then some more,
Is it fair for her to be tortured by that fashion crave,
And about a sewn piece of cloth continue to dream and rave?

Is it fair for music not be enjoyed by many,
Not to spread cheer and invite everyone to be merry,
They say the music industry is suffering from mp3,
Maybe downloaders are thieves, but music will set them free.

Look, I am not defending your right to own,
What you worked hard for and created on your own,
But in a world heading towards an economy of ideas*,
It would be nice to readjust our beliefs and ideals.

The Little Prince met a very busy businessman,
Always counting stars and storing them in the bank,
If he missed one, his face would be totally blank,
No wonder the prince called him a mushroom, not a man.

Technology is coming up faster than our morale,
Long gone is the time of the fight at the O.K. Corral,
There is a new buzz in dotcommunism*,
I do not think it is just a passing fad, just a new ism.

Ironically, I will be copyrighting this strophe,
I will copyright the one before it, and the one above,
Remember, after all they were all born out of love,
But you can borrow any of them, it will not be catastrophe.
