About the Project

The 111101 project regroups Lebanese artists and writers, of all disciplines, living in Lebanon and abroad, who work on memory, through its different aspects: a space to search for traces of memories, a medium for archiving, and a search for the structure of memory.
What is the relation between the transmission of a culture and the communication between cultures, and the role of creation in the acceptance of the "other"? What's the connection between inner conflict -source of creativity- and external conflict such as the lebanese civil war -resource of collective and individual memory-? How can creation and the reappropriation of the memory of the lebanese conflict contribute to reduce the gap created by the post-war individual and collective amnesia?
This project will adapt to the base supporting it: the web site being its virtual facet; interactive events its 'on the ground' facet; and its intermediary facet is where both virtual and 'on the ground' will inter-cross.
