Be/leaving

I used to believe in a happy ever after,
I used to believe in a mother and a father,
I used to believe in people and societies,
I used to believe in angels and little deities.

I used to believe in love and friendship,
I used to believe in banning dictatorship,
I used to believe in hard work and labor,
I used to believe in the rejection of color.

I used to believe in the future yet to come,
I used to believe in tomorrows, and then some,
I used to believe in memories and flashbacks,
I used to believe in emotions filling what lacks.

I used to believe in humans and their humanity,
I used to believe in wisdom, advice, and sanity,
I used to believe in the recklessness of youngsters,
I used to believe in the selfishness of teenagers.

I used to believe in the kindness of old age,
I used to believe in a decent social exchange,
I used to believe in rules and regulations,
I used to believe in countries and nations.

I used to believe in money, currency, and banks,
I used to believe in... just fill in the blanks,
I used to believe in what I used to be living in,
I used to believe in: but now I wish I could be/leaving.
