Big brotherly love

Built-in obsolescence,
And forever renewed innocence,
Their shelf-life is limited, so don’t wait,
Better buy them before the expiry date.

They’re on sale and cheaper than expected,
Consume them or they’ll think you defected,
Your abstinence a threat to the political ideology,
God doesn’t allow it, or are you as well after theology?

Retail therapy is the best available cure,
It will make you feel better for sure,
You’ll get depressed later, but that’s all right,
More and more shopping will make it right.

Don’t these shoes fit you like wonder?
Get that shirt, don’t even ponder!
It has your name written all over it,
And it shows your charm and your wit.

May I tempt you with some furniture?
Why not try those showrooms at IKEA?
Everybody will have the same house in the future,
Thinking about doing different? What a stupid idea!

So my friend, you’d better conform immediately,
To see you like the rest of us I await impatiently,
It might be scary at first, and you’ll need your mother,
But don’t worry, soon, you’ll just love big brother!
