Rise

The stone which the builders disallowed,
The same is made the head of the corner,
The kid everyone belittled and disavowed,
Has grown to be the strongest once older.

The established peck order has been reversed,
The one at the bottom has risen to the top,
He who was a follower is in glory immersed,
And from this point on, he will never ever stop.

They say that after the climax comes the descent,
Soon he will ponder on a glory that came and went,
You expect to mock him as he sat aside and wept,
But the top is just the beginning, and on climbing he kept.

Changing ladders that stretched way up high,
Seeking new frontiers, and the sky is limit if you try,
Look at him fighting and forging his way up,
Never retreating, surrendering, and never giving up.

So it wasn’t easy, but it also wasn’t the road to Galilee,
There were sad times, and other moments of jubilee,
Even on the way up, there are ups and downs, highs and lows,
But with trials and tribulations, persistence only grows.

Well, if you happen to see that mighty little man,
Tell him you’re behind him, and that you’re a fan,
He’s on his own you know, and fellow travelers are few,
So rise little guy, and grow more with every sun that’s new.
